During one of our trips to Puchong, we decided to re-visit Puchong Yong Tau Fu. This place is quite special because customers are allowed to pick their choice of fresh ingredients and pass it to the kitchen staff who will then stuff and fry/ boil them on the spot. This gives assurance that the Yong Tau Fu here is always fresh =)
The vegetables are stuffed to the brim with minced meat and fish paste and the cooks are definitely not stingy with the amount of stuffing as the assorted Yong Tau Fu all look much bigger in size than their cousins at other outlets.

We ordered a side of rice to accompany the dishes. Alternatively, you can opt for Chee Cheong Fun or an individual order of Pan Mee.
Assorted Yong Tau Fu in Soup |
All non-fried items are served in a huge bowl of potato leaf soup. The soup was very flavourful and sweet with a strong taste of anchovies (MSG?) and generous handfuls of sweet potato leaves. We ordered the stuffed tofu and stuffed bittergourd.
I find the bittergourd not as bitter as I would have liked but that is not really a big deal. The tofu is firm with a slightly coarse texture and a sort of beancurd-y skin. I would have preferred the silky smooth melt-in-your-mouth kind that breaks apart if you are not skillful when handling your chopsticks.
Crispy Fried Items |
- Adequately sized crunchy wantans with lots of porky filling.
- Fried eggplant oozes a bit too much oil but nevertheless tastes really good.
All in all, it was a really good meal and very affordable one too considering the quantity we ordered. Will definitely return when we're in Puchong.
